PeterClark
Admins, whats the chance of having some kind of sig limit, of a certain amount of lines, or a certain image dimension? :/ Some sigs on this board fill half the page :shifty:

Also you have to take into account your resolution of your screen. What is it at?
Keldyn
Indeed. Report the offending signatures so moderators can take action. :)

bangbang023 Veteran Posted July 1, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 1, 2004 I'm probably the unofficial signature cop here. Just PM me if anything. I usually have to contact 2 or 3 people daily about offending sigs anyway. The guidelines clearly state nothing over 550*170.

File sizes should be no larger than 50KB. Smaller is preferred as we need to be mindful of our members on dial up access.
Bearded Kirklander
I don't use signatures. Don't really understand them. But, I have been on sites that limit signatures to say 5 lines, some 10 lines, and those limits seem to help. I think 5 lines of the default font size and color (no large, pink fonts, for instance) would be reasonable. I didn't even realize you could have graphical sigs here, and had no idea they could be so huge. I guess I browse without Avatars and Signatures so I never really noticed. I think I would go for a 300 wide by 100 tall as a good limit for graphical sigs. Sounds about right. But that is why I'm just a user and not a site runner or moderator. :) Is there a limit on the number of text lines and text sizes for signatures here? I did not see it right off in the link above. Thanks, BK

Thanks, BK the basic rule about text sigs is that they do not go longer than an image at 170 pixels would. If it seems close to me, I take a screen shot, cut the signature and then measure it to see how big it really is.

Still, I am glad I can turn off the viewing of them both, for simplicity and screen efficiency at least. (Y)

Chode
self-snipped after anger subsided I lost my original PSD file, so there's no chance of managing to salvage my own sig. So Instead I present another one (550x170 pixels at 47.2KB) Gameguy, might wanna fix up the pm message you send. Please note that all images must be no larger than 170x550 pixels and must be less than 50kb in size. Edited July 3, 2004 by Chode

enigma-penguin Veteran Posted July 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 3, 2004 See i always try to keep my sigs withing that limit... image and text This ones like 150 high and 440 wide.... Same goes for the ones i make for people, you can fit enough info in if you just try.(alot of people just belt text in there without realising its size) Although my sig coding is the max length.(1000 characters)
