eevoo
I use to have cable, now I'm stuck on dialup. To far away for DSL or anthing like that, and there is no cable out this way, only Direct TV and that stuff. Sat internet costs too much for me right now. I miss my cable very much. :(
Brandon
It'd be quicker to locate the nearest Neowin member to where you're at now, have them download it, then drive over and pick it up on CD-R. heh... my neighbor (who has the wifi) needed help with his computer, so he turned it on, and it finished in 10 min
chavo
My modem has been connecting at 16.8, 19.2 and sometimes 14.4 lately. Sometimes in the evening it will connect at the usual ~46.6. It really sucks, I can't get anything but dialup and I can't figure out why the connection is so bad. Oh well gotta go update my Mandrake 10 box, see you in a week or so :)
after fallout
I am stuck on 56k the whole summer(but the fastest it gets to be is about 28.8 because of the horrible conditions of the 30 year old phone lines) My connection is ample to view/bookmark stuff the entire summer, but I don't download anything over 5MB(unless I go to the local library with my usb drive and then I can download 64MB over cable, but alas my usb drive went through the washing machine and is now dead :( ) because the connection isn't stable enough. So instead I bookmark everything I see and download it when I get back to school in september(where the internet is limited in speed by my 100Mbps switch, and I want a gigabit switch so I can figure out how fast it really is because no one will tell what the connection is :ninja: ). I've downloaded about...40+ gigs on my current drives with dial-up. Thank goodness for the sepreate phone line.

Jason the Eighty Eighth
So now i am with OptusNet Cable. For around $50US i am getting average speed of 500kb/s, but max is about 2Mb. yep - Australian cable is really fast for some reason. Optus and Telstra cable's speeds are awesome - i would love an unlimited cable plan.
