Hello, I'm new here

I'm looking into a buying my own laptop. I've been looking at a Dell, but I don't know if I should get a Pentium M or a Pentium 4. Which one is better performance wise? I would be using my laptop mostly for school and music.

pentium 4 is better performance wise but pentium M is more batery efficent and if your only going to be using it for school and music i reckon you should go with pentium M

YaY welcome to Neowin !

Where stuff is learned and noobs arn't burned ( Sorry blaise :p )

Depends, are you a gamer or what ?

Because the P4 is for demanding tasks, and the Pentium M is power saving, it's a special laptop processor

Awesome! Thanks for helping me out!

I just need to get the money for the laptop and I'll be all set!

Another quick question... What exactly is the difference between these wireless networking cards?

Dell? Wireless 1350 Internal Wireless (802.11b/g, 54Mbps)

Intel? PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)

Dell? Wireless 1450 Internal Wireless (802.11a/b/g, 54Mbps)

PMs run faster then P4 and have more cache, why are you guys saying P4s give better performance? If your getting a laptop you want to make sure it has a Mobile Pentium or Centrino processor in it, not P4 and not P4-M.

1 and 2 are the same, but #2 is required for your computer to be a 'centrino'

#3 supports the rarely-used 802.11a standard along with the much more popular b and g.
