QuantumTrickery
I'd have to disagree with you a bit. Many of the things I've dreamed of have been things I've never seen before, nor experienced. I think your dreams can most definitely have an impact on your life. Take someone like HR Giger for example: Many of the ideas he came up with for his amazing artwork came to him in his dreams, and they are truly unique. I also like to do some clay modeling from time to time, most of what I create comes from my dreams as well, based on nothing I've ever seen. Its the puzzle of the human mind really. I'm sure what holds true from one person can easily be completely different from the next in line.

Well yes, what I really meant was you can't experience anything which is totally unknown and new to you, such as death. I used the word random, just to cover myself slightly. stanley porkchop
Sounds like the guys surrounding him were some oppresive force and he couldn't help but try to escape it. Orrrrrrrrrr else it could have just been a dream; just some mental activity during sleep that has absolutely nothing to do with the state of his life. Overanalyzing won't really get you anywhere. If I were him I'd just take it as what it was: a dream.

WinterHaze
Well I say it's impossible because when you are dreaming you are believing that it's really happening. How can you believe your really dying when you have never experienced dying before? If your mind is really believing what's going on and it seems so real then how can you have yourself die without having your mind go through the symptoms feelings of how it feels to die, something you know nothing about because it has never happend to you? +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted July 1, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted July 1, 2004 Uhm, I read somewhere that you never actually die in your dream - the dream just stops where you assume death would be. Probably becuase we have no definition for what death is.

Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted July 1, 2004 Global Moderator Share Posted July 1, 2004 you need to stop watching war movies... but you probably didnt watch a war movie that night.. im gessing you talked about one, seen an image, or been watching far too much CNN. i haven't heard of one of my "friends" in awhile, and somebody told me he just baught a nice new bike, $5,000 (motorcycle... not bicycle) and then in my dream, he came to my door, i opened it, he put 2 gell pads onto each hand, and it was filled with gasoline, and lite them on fire, then i woke up... weird thing is.. he is a big of an idiot and i bet he would try something like that...lol :alien:
stanley porkchop
Well, what about people who have been on the verge of death? I can't recall it while awake, but when I was an infant there were quite a few times that I should have died. Ah, I don't really see what use analyzing a dream is, anyway. I've gotten plenty of ideas, thoughts, and inspiration from dreaming, but I never really took any of it to actually be related to my life. A dream is what you want it to be. I have almost full control over my dreams; I make the choices, I change the story, and I pick where it ends. Of course, there are some things I can't control, but in general I can do whatever I want to in my dreams, even if I can't control the "others" consciously. That's what I believe, anyway. Dreams are a nice little escape from reality. I don't consider them directly related to our waking hours.
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted July 1, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted July 1, 2004 Worst I ever came to dieing was when I saw the Earth explode (was running a fever), at which point I just woke-up in a sweat. You surely cannot die in a dream, as how would you dream it without a point of reference. I have a recurring dream that I can fly. Sort of... It's more like running so fast and smoothely that I can levitate, not actually fly. But if I stop running I descend.

+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted July 1, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted July 1, 2004 Uhm, we did? I didn't. I see life with a finite start point and a finite end point. After that it's not MY life anymore, as the being that is "ME" is defined in part by my corporeal existence.
Biohazord
Well I cant say I have died in a dream, but I have jumped of a cliff and it felt so really  but then I woke up before I hit the ground :woot: . +Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted July 1, 2004 Subscriber² Share Posted July 1, 2004 No I didn't die. I saw the earth explode from a distance, yet knew that I was still on the earth. Logically I must have been dead, but "I" was only a character, and so didn't experience death first hand.
saiyanz2000
the only instance that i can remember dieing my dream is (STORY) I went inside my house and i saw my friend there. We started playing tag and chasing each other in the room, all of a sudden he gets hurt real bad so i decide to carry him to the hospital, on my way to the hospital(i was on foot) i saw that many cars were in a jam cause someone was trying to turn in a oneway street then all the other cars started to turn and run, I got confused so i started looking around to c wat was hapening. Then i noticed a sniper on a hill and he was poiting a gun right at me and BANG i am dead, (unlike most the dreams i read here) everything turned white around me and i was like HOLY **** i am dead then i am like wait if i am dead why am i still thinking about dieing and i woke up........BUT DAMN my head hut so much right where teh bullet had shot me too, but anyway thats my 2 cents So Peace
