Ever tried to give up soda?

Recommended Posts

I decided yesterday I didn't want to drink soda, coke specifically, anymore. My dad drank Pepsi the greater part of his life, and he has all sorts of stomach/teeth trouble as a result. Well I drink probably 6-7 cans a day, not a lot. However it's been just over 24 hours since I had one, and I have had a terrible headache all day.

I've heard of these type of side effects, almost like a (mild) form of withdrawal. I'm hoping when I get up tomorrow it will be all gone. I know this definetly happens if you try to get off of caffeine, but I'm still drinking tea which I know has caffeine in it. Anyone else done this type of thing?

No .... 6-7 cans a day is WAYYYYY too much.

You are probably pulling in about 1500 calories a day. Are you over weight? If you are not now, you will be when you get older.

The headache is due to the lack of caffeine. It will go away after a while. But seriously you need to cut back bad, like to 1 a day. And start drinking more water it's much better for you.

I'm right at my ideal weight for my age/height. But I contribute that to a superhuman accelerated metabolism :D

I've heard that the sugars in soda are not artificial sweeteners (like in diet sodas) but it's not real sugar either, and it causes your body to store a lot of fat. Yet another incentive to get away from the stuff

Lemon water with ice ... that's what I used to get over my caffeine addiction.

You mean regular ice water with a lemon in it? Like you get in restaurants?

I don't drink much soda, but sometimes you just get a craving for it. I've heard about that substance in it that makes your body store fat, too. I just think it's a lot healthier to drink it in moderation.

I used to drink 6-7 cans a day.. but I gave it up last school year, then I started drinking again... But now I only drink about 1 can a day, sometimes more.. but never more than 4..

I started having sleep anxiety and such... it was because of the caffeine... I had to give up, and it was also killing my stomach.. I would have diarea every monday morning because I was consuming so much coke on the weekends.

Hmm, I just stopped drinking Coke etc. I have no clue how. I used to drink it alot, but the fizz is just too strong for me lately so I just gave it up. Same here though, if its in the fridge ill drink it, but just 1-2 cans every few days :p

I recently quit smoking cold turkey, after 10 years, and I also drink about 6-7 cans of mountain dew a day. On the occasions where I've not had access to caffeine for a couple of days, the withdrawl symptons I had were a hell of a lot worse than quitting smoking. And I hated life right after quitting smoking. But I didn't get migraines like I did when I don't have caffeine. No lie.

Yeap, i used to drink an assload of soda, but now i drink it occasionally. I used to staycompletely away from it. I usually tend to drink the sodas without a dark tinting on them ebcause they seem to stain your teeth. After a while, water tastes great. Soda also dehydrates yur body
