The Xerox folder bothers me... it isn't possible to delete it as it's always being used by another user or program, yet has absolutely no files in it.

Also, I've just found an undeleteable folder loose on my C: drive called "inetpub" [it might be a temporary one but I can't be bothered restarting at the moment] and want to know what it is. It has 8.88mb of files in it.

The INETPUB directory is used for serving webpages from your machine to the internet, you will notice that you have a wwwroot folder under the inetpub directory. You can remove this by uninstalling Internet Information Services.

or you can try it out by using http://youripaddress or http://localhost or http://yourcomputername.

Like i said You only need it if you are serving a webpage from you machine.

I am ****ed off with those "undeletable" folders and files in XP. I do not have the Inetpub folder, but I did when I had Win2k Ad Serv.

Anyway, would it be possible to delete "xerox" and other folders like it from DOS?

I do not have IIS installed and the only folder contained inside of it is "catalog.wci". Inside the folder are lots of .000, .001 and .002 files.

As for the undeleteable folders they don't really bother me but if they intend to stay there then it would be nice to know what they do. Do I really need the "microsoft frontpage" folder when I have FrontPage 2002 installed with Office XP in another folder?! And why is the "xerox" folder there when it has no files in it and I have no Xerox hardware or software.

Ive booted into safe mode and then you can delete the directories, but then when you reboot they come back again. And until I know why I cant get rid of them, Im going back to Win2k.:lick:
