Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 5, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2004 (edited) Okay, I used apt-get to install the enlightenment window manager. I didn't automatically appear under my GDM boot manager's session list. Am I supposed to hack config files or what? I'll try installing eterm and epplets separately and then reinstall enlightenment. grr... edit: that didn't help... edit2: I found enlightenment.install under /usr/bin user@host:/usr/bin$ ./enlightenment.install ... Generating login startup files ... Done. Now log out of X and log back in again and enlightenment should be your window manager. Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 5, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2004 Okay it worked but my general conclusion was that it wasn't worth the bother.
Tek
I used to really like Enlightenment, but I've been waiting for a new version for about 3 years, and in that time someone made Fluxbox, which is my new favourite.
Fred Derf Veteran Posted July 5, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted July 5, 2004 I used to really like Enlightenment, but I've been waiting for a new version for about 3 years, and in that time someone made Fluxbox, which is my new favourite. I don't know is using it turned my off. Moving the mouse to the right kept changing virtual desktops. Or it might have been that I read that there hadn't been any major revisions to the WM for 3-4 years. The version I got was stamped from the end of 2003 but apparently little has changed since 2000.
