Dual boot question !

Recommended Posts

I am dual booting with windows 98. I have already installed Xp, and am using the dual boot to pick XP or 98. I need to reformat and then reinstall XP because it installed itself in a tempory folder. If I start the setup in windows 98 again so I can use the dual boot, is it going to give me another choise for windows XP, when I boot up, or will it just let me use the old one. My friend thanks it will leave the old windows Xp listing but add a new one for XP from the reinstall. Does anyone know what I should do. Sorry if this is so confusing.

so do I do that in windows XP before I restart it and go into win 98 to begin the new setup of XP, or do I do that in windows before I begin the set up(since XP is on drive D, and windows 98 is C), or do I do that in XP after I rerun the setup from 98, and I have made it all the way back into windows XP and sucessfully installed it?

Thanks

This is what my boot loader in windows 98 says.

[boot loader]

timeout=10

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)TEMP

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)TEMP="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

C:="Microsoft Windows"

so I need to chagne the default , if so what should I change it to?
