Is this normal for Neowin?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that on the front page of Neowin, and sometimes in news stories, there are some words hi-lighted orange. When I hover over them, a sponsored link opens up.

Is this some kind of advertising that Neowin has put intentionally inside the site, or am I imfected with spyware?

I never notice it on any other site, and I'm using Firefox, so I find it unlikely that I have been infected with spyware. Just to be sure I thought I'd ask ya'll if you get the same thing.

Thanks

It's most likely spyware. Try typing a post made up of only the words "email address" and try to preview it. It will likely come up orange in the preview field and you will know it's spyware.

 I TRY to help, but SOMEONE has to beat me to it!

Alrighty, I thought it was just advertisting, but wanted to make sure.

I'm always so carefull with spyware, so I thought it was strange that somthing could have gotten on there.

Thanks

It used to be IE only, but VibrantMedia added Firefox support to the script.

Up until a little bit ago it gave error messages in FX, because their scripting was incorrect, but now it seems to have been cleared up.

And remember, ads are the #1 source of income for Neowin. Without such income this website would fade into nothing, blocking ads prevents us from getting such income.
