semifamous
I guess this goes to timdorr who apparently designed the Lite theme: I don't know if this was on purpose or not, but the plain text stars and the mod/admin/newsposter badges have disappeared from the Lite theme. I mentioned this in each of the respective threads, but nobody noticed... I'm just curious as to whether this is on purpose, or just something that got overlooked. biorK
I think this is on purpose, it was discussed in the Updated Stars Thread.
OrangesOfCourse
yes... i would also like it to either return or have another way to display a mod/admin clearly. :|
david
I dont understand why Lite doesnt have stars. It should atleast have " ***** "

OrangesOfCourse
ahh... you ment those things... i though the swear filter took over... :p but yeah... since the new stars are installed, they took those out (***) and the mod badges, etc.

Steven
The stars were requested removed, and we followed up on it. Neobond removed the IMG Stars. They want just * (astericks) instead. So they can appear to have stars without actually being images.
DsnBehind
The asterisks should be brought back. Asterisks aren't images, so they won't use any notable amount of bandwidth. If they're going to remain removed, there should at least be a space between the member title and the other information. It looks too cramped. And moderators aren't easily distinguishable from normal members. The mod/admin badges should be put back.

DsnBehind
Group: AdministratorGroup: Coder Group: Newsposter Group: Super Moderator Group: Moderator Group: Subscriber Group: Registered But you have to look at the group name to see if it's a mod/admin. That could lead to people not realizing they're being told not do something: they could overlook the fact that it's a staff member.

Tim Dorr Veteran Posted July 13, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 13, 2004 Still, it's hard to tell if you're an admin or mod or whatever from a quick glance. And I think it's important that our posts are highlighted. However, since I don't have access to do skinning anymore, I can't fix these things. But I'll see about getting them fixed by those that can :)
Verbose.
If they're going to remain removed, there should at least be a space between the member title and the other information. It looks too cramped. I've thought the same. An easy way to identify administrators, moderators, etc without using team graphics is to change the username color (admin: red, mod: green) Just an idea... If people like this idea, someone could implement this for Lite only.

semifamous
I agree that the mods should stand out. Anyone can change their "member title" to say "Group: Moderator" if they wanted to, so that could be a little misleading. images would be better, but if you're shying away from images (which I would completely understand,) then maybe different colored text or separating the group name would be a good alternative. And I like the idea of the text stars too. People are earning them, so they should be shown or something... idaknow. Personally, I think post count should be a hidden number, but that's been discussed to death, and I'm not in charge. That's just my opinion, and opinions are like, um, noses. Everyone has one, and most of them smell... So ya. I just was wondering, that's all. I didn't know it had been discussed since I couldn't find anything specifically about the text stars on the lite theme and the badges on the lite theme. I know that there were images (for the stars) on the lite theme for a little while (hours?) when the change first happened, then someone took them out of the source code for the lite theme instead of reverting to what it had before. It really doesn't matter. Cosmetic stuff isn't why I come to Neowin. It's the content that matters. I was just wondering, and thought I'd ask. =)
