Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 20, 2002 Veteran Share Posted March 20, 2002 :ermm: Dreamweaver's just crap in my opinion now... I mean, code by hand, get what you expected, and do it faster than you can with dreamweaver. Well, at least that's how it is for me.... :D
crookram
coding html by hand is for nerds. ;) those screenies don't look too impressive. perhaps that's because the guy making the screenies forgot to deactivate his ms-styles skin. also, i don't see any spectacular new things. still, i appreciate you notifying us of the existence of DW MX. i didn't know that yet. :)

mariusu
looks like a hybrid between dreamweaver and homesite...especially when i look at the tools pane in the upper right hand corner of the first pic. what do you all mean? coding by hand in the new dreamweaver....isn't it wysiwyg anymore? BUT: why should they get away from that? i mean the version 4 of dreamweaver was good enough, offering you a wysiwyg editor and the abitlity to edit the code directly. why should they switch right now, i thought they have a product for the hand coder: homesite! turning dreamweaver in a code-editor will make homesite obsolete. and that's why i'm asking! now, can i get a real answer? =NickJ=
I think DreamWeaver is easily the best WYSIWYG editor out there, its easy-to-use and if i want to do bulk HTML coding in a short space of time then i use that, its HTML is clean as well unlike M$ ($ = sh*te) FrontPage (AACK!). However, seeing as most of the pages I write are in ASP, i MUCH prefer to use HomeSite, i can control the movement of variables, server connections etc and control the layout of the ASP and the HTML combined far easier. All hail HomeSite! :D - Homesite fan

adam2001
Yeah i would still have thought you could still write the code yourself in dreamweaver, and i also agree that more and more stuff is trying to move away from it. The Reason? If every web designer wrote their pages in notepad or something then they wouldnt buy their programs, no programs no money, no money no company cus they wouldnt be able to afford to stay there. Although i have noticed that sometimes dreamweaver produces fairly clean code, but i right mine in things such as notepad. Its just easier for me to do it that way. plus i HAVE to have complete control :D
