Visual Studio.net Launch

Recommended Posts

I just got back from Visual Studio.net launch. I was much better than I thought it would be. They had a band that was pretty good, tons of food, and gave out prizes. Plus I got WindowsXP and Visual Studio.net cd's. Plus the demo and speaker was really interesting. I will definitely go to another function like that.

Microsoft has made a nice exception to product activation for all Users of Only The Microsoft Visual Studio.net Academic Edition. You Must Still Activate The Product, But You Can and May use it on up to 3 PC's as long as you're the Sole and Only User of the product.

Included in your CD Set its the EULA and an ADDENDUM Explaining This.. Below i've stated it.

:)

I'll quote it

-----

This addendum is made to the End User License Agreement("EULA") included with Microsoft Visual Studio.Net Academic ("The Microsoft Product")

Your Using of the microsoft product is governed by this ADDENDUM and the EULA provided with the applicable Microsoft Product. Defined terms in this addendum shall have the same meaning set forth in the EULA. By Excercising your rights and using the microsoft product, you agree to be bound by the terms of the EULA and this Addendum. If you do not agree to these terms, you are not authorized to use the Microsoft Product, and you shall promptly return the unused microsoft product to the place from with you obtained it for a full refund.

The Following Additional terms apply to your use of the Microsoft Product.

1. Section 1.1 Of The Eula is DELETED in its entirety and replaced with the following;

1.1(a) General License Grant. Microsoft Grants You as an individual, a personal, nonexclusive license to make and use copies of the Product on up to THREE computers for the purposes of designing, developing, and testing your software product(s), provided that you are the only individual using the product.

If you are an entity, Microsoft grants to you a personal, nonexclusive license to make and use copies of the Product, provided that for each individual using the Product within your organization, you have acquired a seperate and valid license for each such individual.

I went to the NY Show Too, i'd rather been downstairs listening to bush!..Man Those Idiots Couldn't Figure out the damn screen for like an hour! It was like looking at the sun! :p

It was an alright show, it wasn't that great, i had gone to the one in Westbury the week before, so it wasn't like i didn't know what that dude was doing, I came for the free software, in westbury we got some dinky DVD Trial Edition Of Professional (60days).

Anyway read the above addendum i was suprised to realize what happends when you ACTUALLY read those EULA's.

Just got back from a roadtrip to the Detroit event that was two nights ago...:) I scored 3 copies of XP Pro, 3 Copies of VB.Net, and 4 Spiderballs...:) I have no idea what the idea behind those are.....:s The show was great. The Starbucks program that he built was pretty cool....even though I don't drink coffee. I almost creamed in my pants when he started playing with C#...it's way better than C++ I my opinion. And being able to combine languages like that is awesome. Gotta go play with VS.Net now...:)

I got three because as we were walking out they asked "Does anyone want another bag?" I thought about it for about 3 seconds and said "ME ME ME ME"...and when I realized that XP was still in the bag....I asked for a third one....:)

I doubt they gave you full VS.NET. XP Pro is easier to believe than that. FULL VS.NET is 2500 dollars (Architect Enterprise Edition is the FULL version). No way they gave you something worth that much for free.
