FSB & RAM Speed

Recommended Posts

I was :( last night when Neowin was down, but I have come back with a puzzling question (well for me anyway :D).

I have an Athlon 1.1Ghz and I recently tested it with WCPUID. The results are held in the attached picture below.

My question is, Is my RAM running at 133Mhz like its supposed to?

There should be somthing in your bios to switch from 100 to 133

Back to WCPUID If you'll look where it says Processor #1 in the top right, to the left is an arrow(not the drop down arrow) Click that and I it will display your RAM speed.

Thanks Huckleberry :)

I never noticed that it had RAM info, it says 640MByte but the frequency is greyed out!

Also, I have a Compaq BIOS with no features :(

if you have a compaq, it looks like your max speed your ram is gonna run at is 100mhz instead of 133mhz and above. my reasoning is that since you said you don't have features in your compaq bios, i'm guessing compaq shipped your pc as it's supposed to run. that means that you probably have a 100mhz FSB board that won't run your ram at max potential. if you had a 133mhz board, you'd be running a nice ~1.43ghz right now with your processor multiplier settings :p
