OPaul
Why did the following threads get unpinned? https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=142798&hl= https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=141145&hl= https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=29565&hl= https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=29568&hl= https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=29562&hl=
Keldyn
I think there were far too many pinned topics in that forum. Imo, they were not nearly important enough to warrant being pinned.
Chris Allen Veteran Posted July 14, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 14, 2004 Just because a thread says [Definitive] in front of it, do you really think it deserves to be pinned?
OPaul
The ones I listed were all pinned for around 6 months for so, if not longer. So obviously some one thought they deserved to be.
Keldyn
At the time maybe, but I think they outlived their usefulness. Besides, "definitive" is a relative term. :D
OPaul
K, it's just lately I've noticed a slight increase in the number of threads created that could have been answered just by looking at the threads listed.

So obviously some one thought they deserved to be. That's not what I meant :p I saw an awful lot of [Definitive] threads for a while there that I think people thought were going to be pinned just b'c of the word definitive. Those ones were important and I had that question too, which Keldyn answered. Didn't mean to start anything :p
Daybreak
One slight suggestion - how about splitting software discussion & assistance into 2 forums - Discussion & Assistance? As it is, discussion threads tend to get bumped down rapidly by all the assistance questions, hence causing members (who don't actively keep track of the forum) to create all those discussion threads all over again. ....
At the time maybe, but I think they outlived their usefulness. Besides, "definitive" is a relative term. :D Yeah, they really weren't useful. There is no 'Definitive' anything. People will use what they feel they need.
OPaul
why ask why? Curiosity. The point is now they are gone there has been an influx in the number of threads created that are answered in those "Definitive" threads.
