+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted July 16, 2004 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 16, 2004 Every time I use the quick reply I have to stop opera from loading after about 15 seconds and refresh the page to get whatever I have written onto the board. Plus on avarage a thread with 40 replys to a page takes over 30 seconds to finish loading with a 1meg connection. Is that normal?
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted July 16, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 16, 2004 I remember I shared this tip with Neobond, but here are some kernel variables you can modify to help things out a bit under RedHat Enterprise Linux: echo 100 > /proc/sys/vm/inactive_clean_percent echo 1 10 20 > /proc/sys/vm/pagecache I also recommend this one, as it removes the access time update under ext2, which gets rid of one write request whenever you open a file (which you do multiple times on ever page): chattr -R +A /var/lib/mysql/* /var/log/* /usr/local/apache/* I dunno where you have the website files, but make sure you hit them with the chattr command, as well. Thanks:happy:: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/ The american average is very very high during thereb lunch time and night time. I wouldn't be suprised if you have a slow ISP.
