Since psGmail released in noewin.net bbs. i have got more and more help from here! such as some good ideas, some useful suggestions and bug report realtime.

psGmail is a small trayicon application that allows you to check your Gmail account e-mail from a normal POP mail client (such as Outlook2000/2003, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc). Unlike standard email accounts which allow users to retrieve their e-mail through a POP mail client, Google's Gmail can normally only be checked on the web now. With psGmail, you can use your favorite POP mail client to retrieve your e-mail from your Gmail account. In addition, psGmail allows you to send e-mails through Gmail's service, as if it was a normal SMTP (outgoing mail) server.and it also can send you a msn-style alerts Instantly when you have a new email on Gmail.

One thing you could try is shutting down and restarting psGmail. I found that the SMTP part won't be active after you ticked it until program restart.

I've got it working with Thunderbird with the same settings (bar account and username of course) (Y)

Just maybe because GMail POP3 access most likely won't be free. Also, I didn't know he was giving his program away for free (it was late when I posted that) but not that that makes any difference.

If it isn't illegal yet, it will be once Google decides to offer POP3 service for a fee (assuming they do).

Just out of curiosity, what part of the hardware does this software fingerprint? For example if someone goes and changes their sound card or hard drive after they got the license, will this program be rendered useless?

No kidding! It's not like Google won't beefen up security and stop programs like this from working anyways. Charging someone for an application that others have released for free is outright dumb.

maybe your network didn't work correctly, check your account settings, and proxy if you used.

If you haven't already done so, check to make sure that you have configured your software firewall to allow the psGmail program outbound access as well :)

Is this a bug? I use v 1.1.2 and I have 8 unread emails in my inbox. Program is set to download everything with unread label (which was created and all thos emails are labled unread), maximum emails per download is set to 50 and yet program only downloads one email per check.

It shouldn't be trying to connect to anywhere apart from...

www.google.com port 80 and 443 <-- secure HTTPS port

and

gmail.google.com port 80 and 443

If it keeps doing it just get your software firewall to restrict the application to the two places (and the ports) above. Simple :)

I already allow it just to connect to Google related IPs and to ports 80 and 443, but just a few moments ago program tried to connect to that IP. I blocked it after I realized it wasn't trying to connect to Google. No, I wasn't checking for updates nor is program set to do so in case this may be asked.

only when you check for latest version, psGmail will try to connect to official website for get a update file named version_win32.txt!

and now I re-released the version 1.1.3(fixed to using the website server of US) ,

i think that hardware fingerprint won't change until your hardware changed. did you have changed your mainboard or HD?
