psGmail is a small trayicon application that allows you to check your Gmail account e-mail from a normal POP mail client (such as Outlook2000/2003, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc). Unlike standard email accounts which allow users to retrieve their e-mail through a POP mail client, Google's Gmail can normally only be checked on the web now. With psGmail, you can use your favorite POP mail client to retrieve your e-mail from your Gmail account. In addition, psGmail allows you to send e-mails through Gmail's service, as if it was a normal SMTP (outgoing mail) server.and it also can send you a msn-style alerts Instantly when you have a new email on Gmail.

Features of psGmail :

1. POP3/SMTP service base on Gmail of Google

2. Instant Email Alerts with msn-style(support multiple Gmail accounts)

3. fetch special email with filter function

4. fetch the emails in special label(eg: all mail)

5. http(s) proxy support, you can use it behind of firewall

and more...

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Gmail', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I'm really tired and can't comprehend this at all. This error message appears in Outlook Express almost instantly after trying to send an email. POP3 server works wonderfully ^__^ but I really need SMTP to work because my university network blocks all outgoing SMTP connections to anything other than the universtiy server. Hence if I'm doing a local SMTP connection it should work, and I'm assuming what psGmail does is translate it into an HTTP request that the Gmail servers accept...

...or I could be so tired I'm hallucinating. Help :-/

yes, psGmail always translates your smtp request into HTTP request and send it to Gmail server. so you can send mail with smtp in your university! and for your problem, i suggest you to check "enable SMTP", and your firewall settings, etc

Fingerprint: 2C5D-B7BD

Email: benwylie[at]hotmail[dot]com

Suggestions: I have tried it with the 'invisible' mode, but i couldn't make it visible again. It says to bring up the icon, run the program again, however this didn't work for me. Is this a bug, or a problem with my machine?

Cheers

Ben

Is it possible to receive via pop and send via smtp using this program which is run on another computer on the network? It doesn't seem to be accepting the pop or smtp connections even though i specify the correct ip and port numbers. Is it possible to enable this somewhere?

Thanks

Ryan,

1. After purchasing psGmail, I have installed Version 1.2.3 . I use IncrediMail as my email client. However, each time when psGmail indicates there is an incoming Gmail, IncrediMail is UNABLE to receive. It shows "No message received."

2. Does psGmail support IncrediMail email client please? :(

I've just installed PSGmail ver 1.2.3

I'm trying to configure Outlook 2003 to use it.

It all seems to work except for sending emails. I've set the outgoing mail server as: 127.0.0.1 and port 25

However when I put these settings in Outlook 2003 and test the settings, when it tries to send a test mail, it fails and comes back with an error message of:-

Unable to log on to Outgoing mail server.

Can anyone please help.?

insanekiwi - if you just want to check your webmail then this is of no use to you what-so-ever and you don't want it.

If you like to use outlook or other pop3 client to send and receive emails, and easily keep local copies of all your emails then this program is very helpful. If anyone is on a dialup connection and you pay per minute you are online being able to use a pop3 service is also very helpful and saves money.

If none of the above apply to you, then i guess you need not get psGmail.
