psGmail is a small trayicon application that allows you to check your Gmail account e-mail from a normal POP mail client (such as Outlook2000/2003, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc). Unlike standard email accounts which allow users to retrieve their e-mail through a POP mail client, Google's Gmail can normally only be checked on the web now. With psGmail, you can use your favorite POP mail client to retrieve your e-mail from your Gmail account. I very like the program, for those who dont get why the psgmail ceeps saying new email. Click twice on the tray icon and mark the button: Mark as unread ! ... very simple .....

I have a question!

Has anyone managed to get psGmail working as a service?

I have tried it with srvany.exe from the WinNT resouces pack, but it doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone else tried to do this?

Has anyone else been successfull in setting this up as a service.

I am also trying with yahoopops, so if you have had experince of setting up yahoo pops as a service let me know too!

1. I purchased your psGmail v. 1.2.3 on Aug 30, 2004. It has been working fine until today. Because psGmail continuously tries to analyse unread Gmail threads, Gmail thinks it is spam and locks my account.

2. A few days ago, it was reported by an Isralie source that it was possible for someone to take complete control of any Gmail account without need for a Password. And on the next day, Gmail very quickly patched this shortcoming. Maybe Gmail has modified its login protocols AGAIN. The last modification was in Aug and your psGmail v. 1.2.3 took care of that.

3. In the light of the above, please investigate and make your psGmail compatible with Gmail, in order to make psGmail work again. Thank you, Ryan.

1. Since I wrote you a msg about an hour ago, I visited Vspire.com. I noted the following Log activity: 10/30/2004 feature added: Enabled the pops delay to anti Gmail's robot detect recently. I also noted a newer version 1.2.4 which I had now downloaded and installed.

2. However, the new version also does not work with Gmail. When Mouse-over the psGmail ICON in System Tray, it continuously indicates that psGmail "is analyzing the unread emails". But it does not show that there are Gmail emails. (I know that there are indeed emails on my Gmail account.) Also, because of this continuous analysis which Gmail thinks is spam, Gmail locks my account.

3. Please investigate into this non-compatibility problem and make amends to your psGmail software. Thank you.

I think psGmail is quite usefull for people who, like me are behind a firewall that only permits tcp port 110 to retrieve e-mails

Hello, Neowinian friends,

1. I am writing in furtherance to my 2 posts of Nov 5, 2004.

2. psGamil version 1.2.5 was released in early November. Nothwithstanding that version, however, psGmail is still continuously showing "analyzing the unread emails" when there are emails. The psGmail ICON in System Tray still does not blink, or give any sound alerts.

3. Perhaps for reason that Google Gmail now has its own POP3 access, the Vspire psGmail problems are no longer being addressed by Ryan Sun despite my repeated emails to him. However, I think the principle is wrong for Vspire psGmail not to attempt to solve the problems because many users paid US$7.90 for the purchase of that program. :crazy:

4. Friends, are you experiencing similar problems with psGmail?
