MarvnDuran
Windows No Functions Edition :p 586166910 How about MSOS6? haha... the thing about the number 6.0 is that n00bs will think OS X is better, 'cause 10 is higher than 6. Microsoft OS 2006, would be my choice. - marvin

BajiRav
I'm sure Windows will stay (for now)One day I'm sure it will be called Microsoft Desktop System or something... 586169276 yeah man  whoever is in charge of naming Microsoft products needs to get life or may be need to get laid daily ("with a woman"/opp. sex) freakin stupid names. Although these names correctly imply the product functionality....they are so damn ....errr...something... to be catchy !! Windows Media Player Windows Movie Maker Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003...whaa  how many products are these ? :D Some products like MCE suffer because of "Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005" woow !!! in fact I think sometimes the pop-acronyms sound a lot better..e.g. IE, WMP, MCE etc ok I think I should go n sleep now
wutang01
I hope they just call it Windows LH or Windows 2006. Keep it simple ... Seeing that ppl have been hyped about Longhorn for so long now (cause MS delayed it so many times) ... they should just leave it as Longhorn. So many ppl know the OS as Longhorn ... Catch my drift? Mr. Dee
Hey everyone, found out the final name: Definitely not Windows NG. While Longhorn is a big step forward the roadmap goes beyond that to even more radical development for the next major release ad remember that our release cycle for client software will have the next major one out inside your 10/15 window. Just Windows - no too many marketing issues and not enough marketing spin :-) -- Regards, Mike -- Mike Brannigan [Microsoft]

texdragon
The should make windows like DLC on XBL. Don t need to buy a new game every night for new maps etc. Just pay and download. That would be nice for Windows Os'. Too bad for dial-up-pers. :p

Rob Veteran Posted July 8, 2005 Veteran Share Posted July 8, 2005 I honestly think it'll be Windows6. We've gone through these awkward letter names recently, what with NT and ME and XP. Mark my words - Windows6. If they're touting it as the next generation, then this signifies the 6th generation. And, version numbering, Longhorn is NT6 so-to-speak. I doubt it'll be Windows 2006 because, as people have said, how bad would XP look now if it were called Windows 2001? Windows6. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, and happily admit it. But I think the people who are throwing horrible acronyms like LS and RX and NG are just jumping on this horrible band wagon of naming things with letters right now. Not bad for a "dirty attempt." Better start e-mailing your mockups to Microsoft. Seriously. You never know . . . I like the 6. Make the colours inside the 6 a bit more shiny. The font for Windows is good. Nice work!
