Scorbing
Man this IE6 really stinks as far as performance is concerned. It is slow compared to IE 5.0 through 5.01. Ever since version 5.5 the browser stinks. IE6 seems to be slower than previous versions. What is going on with it? And IE6 has more bugs than previous versions did as well. ahodes1
There's a surprise... its Microsoft :ponder: Only feature added in 5.5 if I remember correctly was Print Preview (YES AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS! You could now see how many pages and how it looked BEFORE you printed!):D

Isn't that amazing.
Gooey
IE 5.5 also introduces other things like a total revamp of transform effects that are a lot more inegrated with DirectX. Also I think there might have been CSS updates... 5.5's the best.

I think I'd be more inclined to think the prob is with you instead of the program.

How about you make a browser with email notification if it bothers you so much.
leqin
Well now I am confused - scorb I thought you went back to ME and then decided instead to re-install your copy of Win2K because ME is pantz as we all know it to be. Why in hells name install IE6 into a OS which, out the box, is perefectly use-able, in fact there is only one MS OS better than it and thats XP - in fact why not just re-install XP and leave it alone - do not visit windowsupdate, do not go tweaking this bit and that bit, just leave it as is after install and get on with life using your PC sooner than installing something that could just break it. gerf
Internet Explorer should just be a browser only, which for the most part it currently is. The things I hate about netscape is that it ties in email and other crap I dont want, and I cant even get rid of it. If you want an all in one email, web browser, messenger then use .... *shudders at the thought of it* AOL
unspec
The latest Mozilla 0.9.9 (browser only install) perfoms nicely in XP. No linked email client, no AOL, no problem. http://www.mozilla.org/ Tabbed browsing is teh win. -- unspec

Look in the lower left corner at the 2nd icon over and click it... hehe... :D However Moz is best. Fast browser and tabbed browsing (great if you want to load many topics in the background with out filling your task bar) Yuo can set it for a middle click and you've got a new window. Silvorgold: Connectix VPC is your friend :D They make a PC version AND a mac version. But not as many people know about the PC version..

BroChaos Veteran Posted March 23, 2002 Veteran Share Posted March 23, 2002 ie works fine for me, and seems to be compatible with the most websites. i love tabbed browsing though, so i use mozilla and netcaptor usually.
gobbledok
is Opera any good? and does mozilla or opera support the usual stuff like IE does, eg. java, flash and run without any problems?
LUTZIFER
I've tried every IE version from version 2 on, and found most to be absolutely useless. In fact I thought the internet sucked until I got ahold of Netscape 3... thank god someone knew how to make some proper software... and have used every Netscape version up until I tried a beta of IE6, which I found quite usable, in fact it's all I do use. Though its faster than all previous versions, it's still not as fast as any Netscape browser, (well Netscape isn't really Netscape anymore, thanx to AOL, lol). nomis_nehc
I sure have no clue what you are doing. Because I can tell you, IE6 runs great on either of my O/S. WinXP or WinME. In fact it works great on all the computers at my work place. So blah. Whatever problem you are getting... you probably caused it.
