i think it depends more on the script..

I stopped using IRC a while back...

but when I was really into it , I hated typing all the commands, so

i happened to meet a great author who came up with a point n click script.. (this was late '99 early '00 so it was a big thing back then)

RATSCRIPT, he managed to make everything so easy.

You'd enter a server, a menu would come up, you'd click the file and bam you got it... (or queued up :-( )

plus it had some hidden features... but it was the point n click that I really enjoyed back when such a feature wasn't so common.....

script for mirc

mmm its hard to choice. i have used bersirc and mIRC both a lot and there are nice features about the both of them. I would say bersirc is the best out of two. it has a nice slick interface with a lot of features. although mIRC scripting suuport is much better than bersirc.

they have there good points its a matter of opinon on whichone you choose. :)

I used to use Klient until mIRC 6.0 came out which introduced multiple servers.

If you have mIRC 6, and want to open up another server type:

/server -n

Klient, however, does have some things that I'll miss, but I can get a script for mIRC that enables those.

Me i'll stick with the old and true mIRC.

Especially when version 6.01 offers multi server connects.

mIRC 6.01 + Invision 2.0 script is the best combination for me, it's got all the File Serv options that you can think off. Then there Fserv Explorer, no need for typing to get a file you just point and click away.

Check out Invision 2.0 Here

Bersirc over them all. It is clean, fast and FREE. Version 2.0 is due out soon and I can't wait. The only thing it is lacking is scripts, but it does have a feature to emulate mIRC scripts to work with it, thats a nice thing to have. I gave it chance because I hated mIRC so much and have stuck with it since, I am happy I did.

Bersirc lags alot tho. I didnt like klient.

ok well I use IRC all the time. I'm always connected but not always using it.. I've used just about every script available.. I thought I was settled on Klient. Became good friends with the ppl who write scripts and write the Klient program. But the lack of features I needed (I play UT) like the !wut (tells in channel what server your on) and the !autoping (tells in channel what your ping is when someone !autoping *ip address* and lack of being able to customize how it looked turned me off..

So now I just use basic mIRC 6.01 (released a few days ago). I liked certain scripts because of certain theme's they had but didn't like the extra rescourses they took. So I went to www.mircscripts.org did some searching and found that i could download themes from other scrips and use them with mirc. w/o having to install that script.. The utility is kte (just search on the site for it). Too much information? Probably :) So short answer is mIRC :D

I think Klient's really cool once you get the hang of it. Script is in VBScript, so it's really easy to pick up and has a lot of ties to the system, so programming can be done pretty easily outside of Klient.

I'm still waiting on the next version (perhaps this year....), but who knows. I like it the way it is now...

My old fave: Xircon w/ Kano script. THAT was a classic...

i've been using bersirc for a long time. everything that i need and want is either included or there are simple plug-ins that are included.

the multi-server support was what drew me too it. had support MUCH longer than mirc did

I use Mirc 6.01. I tried Bersirc, which is nice but was crash prone through any DCC's. I did like the fact it's made in New Zealand though :p

I also tried Klient but found it a huge, bloated peice of crap.

I'm sure alot (not all) of people use other clients just so they can be 'different' and not in the norm. :cheeky: Me, I'll stick with good ol' Mirc and get the job done.
