mcb
if i want to use my TV as a monitor or watch DVDs on it from PC, etc. will i have to buy a better graphics card, or are there cheaper tv-output only cards?
configure Veteran Posted September 27, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 27, 2001 I'm curious too, I've seen people hookin up their TV with the computer and the picture quality that the TV can produce is not quite impressive. Would it be otherwise if I've a flat-screen TV or a 32MB(or higher) video card?
DjmUK
Right, what you will need is a graphics card with the Video Out on it. I mean you can purchase seperate Video Out cards, but there's no point. Just look for a graphics card with this option, sometimes they'll say VO at the end. Here's an example on the card I've just ordered: - Abit Siluro GeForce 2 MX400 64MB AGP Retail (With VO) All I need now is a scart lead connection from the card to my TV. You will need an adaptor of course to fit the plug on the card. Hope this help :rambo:

Mine must be pretty freakin' cheap by now, 16MB TNT2 Pro Tv-Out. It works ok, but when watching *perfectly legal* div-x movies ;) it is nice to have a large tv! The cheapest way to set it up is: S-video cable - bout US$10 (depends how long) Cheap Tv-Out card (such as mine) - bout US$20 ? Two Aux/Speaker cables (as the bloke at the electorics shop ;) he should know... ) - bout US$
