pop up ads: security issue

Recommended Posts

There's a problem with the ads popping up security warning windows and asking to close windows.

This is the url:

http://www.whenusearch.com/ws_close.html?s...esult=nocontrol

And there are pictures that were sent to [sanctified] and Toxikk that they'll be posting soon.

edit: Ryan? contacted me via messenger to post this for him... so credits or comments or whatever goes to hi:):)

Thanks, keep them coming. We added a new advertiser but it's only a test (temp)

No problems here. Firefox 0.9.1 on Linux.

yah, this is happening only to those who have a low security against activex components

,Jul 26 2004, 22:58] Firefox .9.2 and now problems either.

How can we replicate this?

go into IE and turn down your IE security settings to low and low privacy control.

Then you will suddenly realise why you like firefox more ! :)

You can also disable the security settings in firefox, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to believe FF is better over IE when I'm asked to lower the security settings for IE when its already doing ok for me on XP/SP2 (security settings at default)

SP2 users are unaffected by all this on default IE settings.
