Some Ironic issues

Recommended Posts

Dear Neowinians,

We all have seen recently the "name" change from nickname to real name in our newsposts. Now, I strongly believe it's a very good idea to give a touch of professionalism. However, isn't it a bit ironic/contradictory when our slogan is "Where unprofessional journalism looks better". Yes, I know that our journal is very simplistic for everyday users to comprehend. I also agree with the full name.

My point is, should we consider revising our slogan to clarify our central audience?

Perhaps.. a thought of a change? (I know this has been brought up in the past)

An idea would be,

Neowin.net - Your (everyday) technology resource!

or perhaps since we try to make things easier, revise it..

Neowin.net - Simplifying the technical (or something like that)

What's your viewpoint? Feel free to share it.

I think you guys have missed my point here.

My point is not to discuss about the NAME change. Nothing about that. No no!

My point is to discuss.. please read the title.. "Irony between Professionalism and Unprofessionalism" in Neowin.

Your whole post was about changing the slogan. I don't feel we should change it. Simple as that.

Not really, the post is to discuss the irony between this, while the change of slogan is only a suggestion regarding the issue.

I guess nobody feels like it.

Irony is rarely something that can be discussed, per se. You just kind of go, "Huh... that is ironic!" and move on.

Changing the slogan isn't your point?

Well the whole point of the slogan was to show that we don't need to be pro journalists in order to bring a great news resouces and website to the internet. I think that working on this understanding did us very well. As long as we don't pay people to post news here we could be considered unprofessional or amateur journalists. Other sites do as well as Neowin (and better even) yet they have a team of people working on the site as a day job while we edit Neowin after our day jobs.

The slogan is still very valid. Adding our real names was something our affiliates and supporters really wanted so they could justify working closely with real people rather than internet nicknames.
