The extension, which carries through the 2007 season, is expected to keep Cowher's salary competitive with those of the game's highest-paid head coaches. My supervisor at work is from Pittsburgh, she loves the Steelers. I always get into discussions with her about Cowher and how the Steelers will never win a championship with him as head coach. Cowher has not done this at all in Pittsburgh and still he gets rewarded. The Steelers need to shake things up and I would have thought that they would have started with Cowher. There's a difference between loyalty and stupidity. If Cowher can't get the team to produce then he must go. You can't have it hurting the team for the simple sake of being loyal.
