rocks1985
Why are front page news comments not counted as real posts? (They don't show up in "My last 10 posts" or "All posts by a member", which makes them difficult to track)
L3thal Veteran Posted July 31, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2004 I have wondered why as well.
matt74441
I think they gave a reason a few months ago. Something about spamming or something, I'll hit the search engine.

OPaul
The comments are pretty much always spam and are hardly ever moderated.
bakerster
They do count towards your post count. But they aren't exactly recoreded into the ibf_posts (Y)
Chode
Oh noes, my post count/penis length is too small and I'm embarrassed!!!!!!1111oneoneone!! [/scarcasm]
Japlabot
it's more of a technical reason why (board integration) rather than on purpose. But as Chode said, who really gives a ****?
Marshalus Veteran Posted July 31, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2004 The comments are pretty much always spam and are hardly ever moderated. We have recently taken steps to correct that problem. They do count towards your post count. That is correct. Why are front page news comments not counted as real posts? (They don't show up in "My last 10 posts" or "All posts by a member", which makes them difficult to track) Because they are not in the forum, and while the news system and forums share a userbase, that is about all they share. The posts are stored in a different table.
L3thal Veteran Posted July 31, 2004 Veteran Share Posted July 31, 2004 it's more of a technical reason why (board integration) rather than on purpose. But as Chode said, who really gives a ****? I don't because I never post in the front page. I just read the news and then I read the useless comments they post there.
Chode
I only post there if it's an old story, or my name is mentioned (STALKER and nvidia drivers)
