A Shoutbox

Recommended Posts

i know we have the live chat.. this is different.

basically what it is is a little box at the top of the forum index. any member can basically say anything and there it is..

its useful for many sites. heres an example http://christianforums.com/ (they call it a chatbox)..

and it gets many more people than the live chat

it would be agreat feature to add

They can cause hellish problems. (Swearing) Also they can have to effect of slowing down websites and make them look slightly, in my experience tacky.

I've never really seen the point of a Shoutbox on site that has a forum

And I especially don't see the point in a Shoutbox on a site that has a forum AND a chat thingy

It's pointless, you gets me?

Im not sure what they can do with the chat to make it popular, but i mean just idle in there like micheal, the more people in it at once the bigger the chance it will get used. I think the mods should take shifts or at least try to get in there whenever they arent too busy, because you are guarenteed for people to use it if a mod is in there.

neowin doesn't need a shoutbox. pm each other and talk bad about the rest of the members of neowin if youy HAVE to whine

I'd be in there 24/7 if there was an external app I could use to connect to it. I think a lot of other people would, as well. Someone want to program it?
