McAfee runs, but has a few issues.

It has serious problems with outlook express 6 (virus scan 4.5.1), where enabling webscanning could potentially cost you the contents of all your email folders.

Specifically in winXP, we have noticed serious menu slow downs, problems with the service not starting on install etc.

A service pack is currently being worked on for corporate users, and a new version (6) will be released soon for home users.

Basically, from my experience, you can install and run McAfee VirusScan 4.5.1 on Windows Xp build 2600 RTM (official) and experience no noticable / fatal problems.

Hope that helps,

Jon

I try install McAfee 5.1 on my XP CORP FINAL, and Vsheild doesn't work, it warn me that software isn't compatible with OS everytime I load it, I can't upload virus def, even if I downloaded the latest DAT file and install, it still shows that I'm using the old DAT file..

For those who looking for antvirus for Windows XP, the Norton Antivirus 2002 will do :)

McAfee 5.1 is a home user product, and yeah doesnt work.

But they are releasing version6 to fix it.

The corporate/enterprise version, which is 4.5.1 AND 4.5.0 work (we are deploying them, so must be fine ;)

I've tried NAV2002, it works, but I still dont like it.

It updates itsself like every hour, deleted my 'dodgy code' repository without asking, and moans that moo.dll is a trojan.

Just my thoughts, but I dont like it.

I am running all three of the above... and yes, MOST - but not all win 2k drivers work in XP (Kernel similarities...)

In case you were about to ask about Soundblaster live! cards, THE WIN 2K DRIVERS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY, despite many "fixes" that people will tell you about - sorry just it seems everyone has asked about this so now i include it by instinct :right: .
