[Olympics] Men's USA Basketball team routed

Yeah it was quite shocking. That one guy kept making those 3 pointers...damn.

But one thing I got irritated about was the ref calls. Some of them were unbelievable. Like the part where he called lebron james for traveling. ugh.

Team USA Disappointed me there. They Played horrible, didn't deserve to win. They were outplayed. Hopefully they can get their act together and do well when the actual tournament starts.

Hey sometimes you need a wake-up call to play to your potential. Maybe this is just what the US team needs. Better it happened now before it really matters. I wouldn't worry too much there guys.

Not to take anything away from Italy...

But those refs were making horrible calls like crazy. But even if it was ref'ed befter, the US would have lost.. They played horribly, hopefully they will play better tomarrow against Germany.

Actually, I would worry... the entire USA basketball world (wow, that makes sense, lol) is far too overconfident... I think not qualifying or not winning the gold would be a wakeup call.

This is the best team they could come up with? whats with basketball players not wanting to represent their country?

sadatkarim: that was travelling, it's just never called in the NBA for some reason

You know, that's what I was really ****ed off about... almost everyone who declined had never even played for the Olympics before. IMO, that's just weak...

That's just my opinion, though. They have their own lives, they make their own decisions, even if I disagree with em :p

GOOD FOR ITALY! The US team made up of mainly thugs and losers needs to be taught a harsh lesson. That being that they aren't the best. The days of Jordan, Johnson, Stockton, and Malone - that was a good team. These gangster thug wanna-be bottom of the barrel losers who argue with coaches about having to practice and who bang their chests every time they score need to be taught a harsh lesson. I hope they are out in the first round.

Anyways, this is just warm up guys, so to speak, no big deal so far.

At least they'll have the chance to realize it won't be that easy, specially if some of the best players in the league didn't step forward for their country. Shame on them!

Well, here's my thoughts on this:

Whoever put this team together should be fired, demoted, relieved, whatever. The NBA style will NOT work in international play - didn't we learn this last summer? There are ZERO players on this team who can shoot the basketball. Where's Reggie Miller? Ray Allen? Baron Davis? For God's sake, Anthony Peeler or Brent Barry or Bruce Bowen or Cuttino Mobley...SOMEONE WHO CAN SHOOT THE THREE!?

One-on-one basketball is crap and is the exact reason the NBA is so dreadful to watch. The DREAM TEAM (yes, 1992, and ONLY 1992) had great basketball players but they also were great teammates. They knew their roles, they played defense like it was nobody's business, and they utilized a variety of different strategies. These players nowdays have no idea how to move the ball against a zone or how to run a press-breaker. "I'm being double-teamed out there, I have no idea what to do." (Tracy McGrady, last season).

The experiment is over. College players belong in the Olympics - or MAYBE 1st year rookies.
