mcb
Seemingly overnight, my computer has decided to spawn several more svchost.exe instances. as i recall, yesterday, there were a total of 18 Processes running while idle. mcb
p.s. i installed those new xppowertoys posted on neowin. i dont know if that`s done it or not, but after uninstalling `em, they`re still here. if anyone could also tell me which processes are associated with those powertoys, that would be much appreciated as well

Techneaux
I've got 4 with a fresh install of XP. Seems like having more isn't worse, just running different things over different accounts.

aco Veteran Posted September 29, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 29, 2001 Thanks me101, I have always wondered what svchost was; in Win2k Ad Serv aswell (if I remember correctly). I have 4 running now, I have a shitload of RAM so I forgot about looking into it. A question for Photoshop users: Is anyone running PS 6.x with no pagefile? It won't run, it tells me I don't have enough Virtual Memory. So I set the pagefile to min and max of 2 MB :D and it works :s
