AIM SPAM!?! What will be next??

Recommended Posts

Just signed on AOL instant messenger this morning, like i always do, when all of the sudden i was asked if i wanted to accept a message from "godesssss331". I figured it was either someone local that got my handle or someone who got it off a website. Well i guess the website assumtion was correct, because apparently some damn porn site got my AIM name, and sent me a message with a link to their smut site. Could things get any lower? Is nothing sacred?? At least with AIM i could get momentary revenge as i warned the screename into oblivion and then instructed my friends to do the same, then i just blocked their silly smut sending arse. However, I am not naive, and i realize all they have to do is sign up for another name, and theyre back in business. Has this happened to anyone else? What are your thoughts... :ermm:

It's really bad on icq. And, if you follow some of the tech news (even just the crappy tech news on msnbc), they all state that the instant messangers are the next big thing for spammers.

I've closed off my IMs, so that I only accept messages from people on my lists. It cuts out people who 'just want to chat' but it was turning into one real person, for every 100 offers for porn.

So, if anyone wants to be on my aim or icq, they have to email me first. It's the price you have to pay to cut out the crap.
