Rpi-It-All DVD To DivX Software. Quite Nice I think.

Recommended Posts

I found a great piece of software to backup DVDs into DivX format. It is called: Rip It All. It makes a perfect copy of a DVD movie and you can fit it on a single regular CD. Of course, spanning to two CDs creates a better quality copy, but a single CD looks good. I made a copy of my movie Space Cowboys onto a single CD and the quality is great compared to other DVD-to-DivX software such as EasyDivX. Rpi It All also has a wizard which makes it so easy to backup a DVD that even an 8 year old kid can do it in less than 1 minute!. I loved it. Below is the URL in case any of you want to check it out. If there is a better software than this one to backup DVDs, please let me know.

Most of the ripping I do is from Region 2 PAL DVDs (e.g., Futurama, Family Guy, etc.). I use GKnot for ripping (with Divx 3.11 and Nandub) because it is so customizable with great filters. In the end, I have Futurama episodes looking MUCH better as a DivX rip compared to the source DVD (due to interlacing issues).

How does Rip It All do with PAL DVDs?

Cheers,

RW

easydivx is alot better program. it does simply and efficiently, and means you dont have to do any settings. it can do 2 pass encoding, and many other features.

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to convert a DVD to .avi using DivX 5.0..?

Go here and click on "The Guides" on the left column. Then select "DivX guides." The DivX 5 tutorial is on that page. I think it's only for GKnot, though (which I fine because I think that GKnot is best!).

Cheers,

Yeah, Either use GKnot or just do it by hand with Nandub and Divx 3.11.

THe quality that way is unmatched and you can get far better control of the output quality. The only downside is a bit of confusion but if you follow a doom9.org guide, you should be all set.

DivX sux..

you cant play divx on your set top.. whats the point of playing movies on your tiny old 15 inch or 17 or 19 even...

if i take the time to download or rip a movie, it better be in SVCD format, so i can watch it on my home theator.

having a movie on 2 or 3 cd's doesnt bother me.. it's worth it since SVCD is awesome quality and it plays on most set tops and all pc's..

DivX 5.0 has a bug that makes the video look bad so stay away from it for now. Use version 4.12 instead.

EasyDivX sucks people. It doesn't synchronize the video and audio as perfect as Rip-It-All. I tried it and it just doesn't make the grade. Rip-It-All works great. It does a perfect job. It rips subtitles, and has a Wizard that sets and does everything for you. No headaches. It encodes in real time, so if the movie is 2 hours long, that is how long it will take to encode it for you. At least that's how it works on my Athlon 1.4 Gigahertz PC.

I ripped Space Cowboys with Smart Ripper then encoded to DivX with Rip-It-All using 1-pass, 1 CD and it worked out great. I also tried encoding the same film using 2-pass and it took twice as long to encode the film, yet the quality was the same so no sense in using 2-pass encoding. The video and audio were perfectly synchronized. Just awesome. The link I posted to the program is the only one I have. It's were I got it from. If it doesn't work, just go to Yahoo and type: RIPITALL on the search blank and click on SEARCH. It will find it for you.
