You can never have too much unless its over 2GB :D

More is always better, if you have more than 512 you can disable the page file, making the comp faster.

If you are running on 9x architecture then yeah, you will run into problems. It does not know how to handle any more than 256 mb efficiently. Besides, after 512 mb, the rule of diminishing returns kicks in. Unless you are doing alot of image manipulation, or video editing, or running a file server, than you need no more than that in my opinion. From what i have seen there is very little performance to be gained from increasing your RAM capacity above 512 MB

Cheers;)

Nope never :D

There's a physical limit that the OS sets (I forget what it is for each OS, anyone care to fill me in?)

More is always better becuase the os doesn't have to page (use virtual memory or store stuff in memory in a temorary file until it's needed) programs or info as much.

I've got 512 and it's never filled unless I'm doing something insane (like time stretching a 60 min mp3 or rendering a 3dsmax animation)
