I agree with most on this board that are in favor of a more is better attitude, though if you are financially strapped, don't upgrade unless you need it.

If you do major gaming, DVD ripping, Video Editing, multitasking then get it.

If you are a WORD PRO man, emailer, surfer, then don't

SImple as that.

I think 512MB is sufficient for most processes. In fact, if you belong to the latter category of PC user, then 256 MB should suffice.

If however, you are a PC wizard, who whips up massive CGI's, DV editing, etc... then go with the more is better mentality.

I do that all the time. I am sorry. I am used to another board that had the buttons in reverse order, I will try to be more careful when posting.

Win98 era

While we're on the topic of hardware, I've got 640MB of PC133 and I don't think it makes much of a difference from 128MB. :roll:

Windows XP still starts running slow a few months after installation...
