They have run out of bandwidth again? :o They were asking for donations last week. Looks like this could be the start of the end :(

They seem to be working for me actually (hence my sig) and the site loads fine? hmmmm maybe they sorted it (again).

They aren't accepting any new users. I received an email from them asking for money so they can expand. Unfortunately, I deleted the email already. If you're already a user on the site you should receive an email from them also.

Hello 4206,

Currently yoursighost.com is running waaaay over the bandwidth mark on its current host. Because of this I was forced to suspend registrations to keep things alive. Right now I am looking at dedicated solutions for yoursighost, but this of course is very expensive. Because of this I am asking for any donations someone can offer, even if its 1 dollar, I don't mind. Anything to help would be appreciated.

Remember, this service is stil free and will remain so. But I could really use the help to make this move to a dedicated.

blah i'm gonna see if i can upload my sig to tripod

[edit]hows my new sig?[/edit]

[edit] grrr, somethings wrong [/edit]

[last edit] nm, it works now, how is it tho? :) [/last edit]

Ya know, HostTyme.com provides 5GB of transfer for $9.99 a month, and 10GB of transfer for $19.99 a month. You might wanna move yoursighost.com there. I calculated that, for 5,000 hits per day with sigs averaging 10KB, the transfer-per-day is ~50MB. After 30 days, that's only 1.5GB. Even on a much busier day, the site could stay well within the limit.

Furthermore, you could put a cap on sig sizes. If someone has a large sized sig, they would need to optimize it with heavier JPG compression or GIF color reductions/custom palettes/dithering. Like the above example, get them all under 10K (or 5K for smaller ones).

If you wanna see a 300x300 JPG under 10K that looks good, go to www.bagmasters.com and see for yourself. Browse the catalog and look at detail pages for each item. When you hit a details page, you'll be asked for some company info. Fill in junk, or click the Back button. Either way the cookie is set so it won't ask again. ;)

PS: I helped build the site so I should know all the exploits :D

I think someone could make money of charging a small fee to host signatures and pictures that allow hotlinking.

Actually I wouldnt even pay for it, but forums are growing at such a large rate these days, and people enjoy having pretty signatures so perhaps theres a market.

People desperate need for a sig host. upload your sig to my local ftp.

address: vinh.myip.org

port: 56669

username: neowin

password: neowin

rename your sig to the name your using on neowin e.g if your name was john then rename your sig file to john.jpg or whatever the extension is.

I will upload it to my accout thats hosting my site and i will pm you the url to your sig within 1min if iam awake or 5hours if iam asleep.

hope this helps.
