glix81
Im using windows xp, and recently I have been having a problem with CDROMs. When I put in a cdrom in my drives, they are not recognized. IE lets say i have a copy of 'black and white in my drive And I decide to play a game of Elite Force, Ill open my drive take out the Black and white cd and put in the elite force cd, and the computer does not recognize the disk at all. Windows explorer does not recognize the disk and neither does the copy protection of Elite force. When i hit "explore" its says please intsert disk, or something simular. I have no idea what is causing this or how to fix it, but im looking for help. This more or less a follow up to my last post, I didn' t put out all the details or know all the details myself, so i reposted.
altezza Veteran Posted March 30, 2002 Veteran Share Posted March 30, 2002 I had similar problem as yours before. The only way I can do is to restart computer and this should clear the problem.
Miran
Or if that doesn't work try removing your CD-ROM drives from control panel->System->Hardware->device manager and reboot, and let Windows re-detect and install them. Don't know if that will make a difference. You could also try removing your secondary IDE channel (if that is where it is) from the hardware list. If you have an intel board I'd install Intel Application Accelerator, it seems to make my CD drives detect CD's faster but who knows. Good luck.
