Japlabot
I've heard that there is or was a problem with out of control Doom III threads... why not just create a subforum of Gamers' Hangout for 'Latest Craze (Doom III)' and then when the next craze comes, eg: Halflife 2, change the name to 'Latest Craze (Half Life 2)' or to that effect, perhaps not call it something as lame as a 'craze' ;), and in the changeover of titles, just mass move all the doom3 topics in the forum to the PC Gamer as they would probably be inactive by then anyway. And besides, if someone during the craze period wants to search for a word specific to doom3 that could also pop up in other non-doom3 threads, it would be easier to search for. Something like that would of been helpful for GTA:Vice City PC too back when that was the latest craze
Toxikk Veteran Posted August 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 18, 2004 i think it is a good idea. it will help make support for those games easier to find. it could even be more than one... like hl2/halo2
enigma-penguin Veteran Posted August 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 18, 2004 interesting... but the main reason we have these massive floods of posts, is because many people lack self control... and post everything they can think of (requirements - software/hardware.. will my system run this? spoilers, screenshots, leaks, rumors etc) and its not just in gamers that such things happen... maybe it would do some good.. but i'd probably say it wont happen (ed- ooh toxikk gave it the thumbs up.. nice) plus its just something else for the staff to moderate... (if i had it my way there'd be a cooling/extreme cooling subforum.. doesnt mean ill get one)
Japlabot
Hey maybe not even rename and move. Maybe just archive the forums when they become dull to keep them as a referece for the slow adopters for the game. I sure wish I could've recieved the same level of support for Vice City PC as when it first shipped for PC. There was dozens of great and helpful threads, and when I started playing the game again months down the track, I couldn't find much help, even with the search feature. Joel
If people would exercise a little self-control we wouldn't have a problem. The amount of Doom threads didn't **** me off as much as the people refusing to post them in the PC Gamers forum.

You gotta change before they do .... Ding dong ding dong din banana phone  http://cookiethievery.com/old/042604/osakaphone.swf
SMeK Veteran Posted August 18, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 18, 2004 i think the problem was more people not being able to find the gamers forum :p they seemed to just miss out that forum, so creating another forum wouldnt help :)
Japlabot
Well maybe if there wern't 58 forums on the main page over 3 pagefulls it would be easier, and rearranging them still makes it harder for me. just a quick paint job, look what you could do just by simplifying the layout, both the top and bottom have 9 forums in each row, it would be much easier for the eye to interpret if it was as easy as this. no wonder nobody can find the appropiate forum for Doom III Edited August 19, 2004 by theLANDofSMEG
