radioboy
OK, I want to blow Windows 98SE off my laptop and put Linux on it. The specs are a Pentium @ 120MHz, 48 megs of RAM, and a 1 gig hard drive. I want to have the obvious standard Linux and config tools, plus a GUI (most likely KDE 2.2.2 or WindowMaker). Please give me some suggestions. Mandrake seems too bloated for this. neowin_hipster
If you want a kick-ass looking GUI use enlightenment. KDE is cool but is bloated. Mandrake is the best for any n00b by far. It isn't really that bloated, like every linux it just depends on what you install, cuz I've installed it with using less space than win98. Slackware, SUSE, redhat are all good too.
