oh, so now its koreans that cant drive huh? You know hard it would be to drive in korea? Unless you're comfortable with driving around tight spots, then its gonna be a pain if you're a first time driver in korea. Korea has narrow roads unlike in america where the roads are more easier to drive where its widen out...

Point #1. You spelled Korea and Koreans with a "K". Teehee.

Point #2. I found the NBC commentators awful. Yes, I expect them to pump up the American olympians but they seem to also like to dehumanize the competition. They refered to the Romanian gymnasts as being "born into it" or something to that effect.

I take great offense to "Asian" being used to refer exclusively to people of Chinese/Korean/Japanese descent. It's large continent. You shouldn't be so racist.

It's like a cross between a group therapy session where everyone tries to prove that they were raped as a child, therefore, ended up ****** up as an adult, and a NOW meeting.

I have no idea what kind of feet chinese people have, but I fail to see the problem if it is true. There is a difference between stereotyping someones personality by nationality/race and make factual statements about their ethnic traits. It is no different than saying all chinese people have slanted eyes or golden skin.

Even though that last part was a bit off, I get your point and I agree.

uhhh they said she was born into it because romanians are known for their remarkable gymnastics abilities mainly because they were the first every to score a perfect 10 in the olympics

A judge saying the chinese will not fair well in the diving because they have flat feet is somewhat biased. That judge should be stripped of her role. How can she be fair in judging when she has already made those assumptions.

I'm sorry but saying something like that can be offensive and is classed as a racist remark. Purley on the fact a neagtive remark was made on a race of people with no evidence to prove it.

Did you ppl read the page before?

it was said that the comentator might have said that the diver entered with the feets flat in the water that meaning she did not enter the right way, that means her feets pointing to the sky... and you are still acusing the judge or comentator...

these ppl today everything is racism, even if it's stated that is not...

- During WW2, the Americans were convinced that a bombing campaign by the Japanese would fail miserably because it was believed the shape of asian eyes prevented the Japanese from aiming properly... naturally, Pearl Harbour cleared up that little misconception.

- Also during WW2, it was quite commonly accepted that black pilots couldn't possibly compete with caucasian pilots because it was believed they had smaller blood vessels going to the brain and so would black out during high-G manoeuvres. Of course, this was just plain ridiculous and in fact, the black squadrons of WW2 boasted some of the highest kill ratios and successful mission counts.

Overall, it's simply not worth getting your knickers in a twist.

Wow, some nice facts, thanks. :)

You need to learn more about your homeland, since that tradition has been buried by the westernization of China. Remote regions of China may still practise that tradition, but no athlete would do such a thing to themself.

I watched the NBC broadcast and it did sound like she (commentator) was referring to the horizontal stance of Lishi's feet when she hit the water. The "flat" feet caused some minor splashes, which resulted in minor point deductions. The commentator did **** me off though; not because of the flat feet comment, but because of her nit-picky commenting. She made it sound as if she could have done the dives perfectly herself. I wanted to run over there and kick her down the 10m platform  .

You don't deserve to call it your homeland. I hope you're talking in retrospect, because that custom died awhile ago. And I'm Chinese: Even if the commentator was generalizing Asian feet, I don't see the problem. I don't see how this comment was so offenseful. But anyways, although I don't see it as insulting, I disagree with the comment. If she really was talking about Chinese feet in general, then it's false. I've actually never seen flat feet before.. And if she was talking about the feet's orientation during the dive, then I'll probably agree. I don't remember the exact dive that this happened..
