Ok there has been a change of plans. The Admins don't want us logging in from a non-neowin site, using the neowin username and password. This will relieve some security concerns, and it should remedy the special characters issues we have been experiencing.

I'm in the process of trying to figure out how we will accomplish this. Please stay tuned...

Cant you ask if it can be part of neowin, on the neowin server?

Wasnt this the plan before?

Thanks, Tim

Neowin's server doesn't have ASP on it.

Matt said it, as far as I am aware, Neowin doesn't have .NET capabilities

I'm definitely not sure how their website is configured. To run NeoRequest, IIS, .NET framework, and a MYSQL database are required.

If you didn't logout the last time you visited, you still have a cookie on your computer, and you will be allowed in. If you logged out the last time, then you have to wait...

I'm just skipping the reauthentication if you have a NeoRequest cookie.

Try it out.

Threads been dead almost two months, but i got a bug report

When i go to: http://neorequest.tekngn.net/HowTos.aspx

I get a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object.", here is the stack trace

[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.]

_ASP.HowTos_aspx.__Render__control1(HtmlTextWriter __output, Control parameterContainer) +59

System.Web.UI.Control.RenderChildren(HtmlTextWriter writer) +27

System.Web.UI.Control.Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) +7

System.Web.UI.Control.RenderControl(HtmlTextWriter writer) +243

System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain() +1926

Have you have been declaring objects and not instancing them again chorpeac? :D

Edit: Weird, went to the page again and it was fine, fix it already?

Can you reproduce it right now? I tried and it worked ok for me. I haven't changed anything lately to make it work for me.

Ah ha! I see what you are doing. Doh! You are trying to view that page directly...without going to the site to open it. Nice catch. :)

It should be fixed now. That is actually an illegal operation, because it needs information from the system to display that page right. You should now be redirected to the home page and can click on the how to from there.

I tried logging on at school and it won't let me logo on it says I have entered an invalide username/password.

I get the same problem at home, unless I turn off my firewall: Sygate Personal Firewall Pro. I also tried using a password without ! marks and things but I did that when I tried it with my firewall was off, so cannot tell you what the problem is yet...

Hmm...well this doesn't seem to be a problem for me and my hardware firewall that is built into a router, and I am sure it is the same for other people. If you turn your firewall off, it works?? What country are you from?
