Easy CD Creator Has Bugs, But Nero Is Just As Bad

Recommended Posts

Recently I went to Ahead's web site to see the Nero history and it seems to me that it has just as much bugs as Easy CD Creator. I see people putting Easy CD Creator down all the time becausre of bugs and Nero is just as bad. I personally use Nero myself, but there is no difference between the two as far as bugs is concerned. The only difference is that Ahead makes a list on their web site of the bugs it fixes, Roxio doesn't.

I disagree. I think Nero is the company that goes the extra mile to fix ALL the problems, whether they are major or minor, and therfore you see alot more come out of their version changes. As far as Roxio goes, crap. I THINK they've only released one update for their buggy product so far.

You can't judge a piece of software by it's version changes.

ps. nero works great for me and roxio is uninstalled

I've been using EasyCD for as long as I've had this burner. I've NEVER had a problem, rarely do I coaster a cd (usually it's because I'm trying to copy a protected cd, like a game, for my gf).

Then again, I'm not like some people who installed direct cd (which i hear is horribly buggy). Nor have I ever felt the need to uninstall EasyCD (a process which I hear can kill 2k).

I still to date cannot install Roxio's POS Easy cd creator on my XP box. Were this a problem with Nero, Ahead would have fixed it in no time. Nice to see Roxio are all for their customers. :ermm:

Oh yeah... and what was Roxio's recommendation ? Remove the "take two" element ? lol Why not just fix the damn problem rather than removing pieces of it ?

i use diskjuggler or fireburner, haven't burned a coaster yet at 24x (music, dc, bin/cue, etc)

used to use cdrwin on my old comp but it really hated some cds so i got fireburner. found it much better.

the only time i'd use nero or cdrwin is if i have to over burn. i'd never you sl-EZ cd creator, that thing sucks.

Question:

I am currently using Nero 5.5.6.4. If I get the latest version, can I just install it over the current version I have without uninstalling it first?

What's everyone's specific issue with Easy CD?

The only trouble I've had with it since version 3 is when the fuc ked up the version 5 install on 2k/XP, which has been patched

other programs do everything i need much better.

I have no issues with anyone's personal preference, like in your case. But there are a lot of people claiming Easy CD sucks, but can't tell you why.

As for Direct CD, I don't use it so I can't say

i use it lots on my friends computer. it works fine, but i find it is slow and bloated like an old corpse. so i try to avoid it unless i really need to burn something with it for some reason, or want to burn a few cds at once to save some time.

he won't install anything different since he just burns data and music so he likes it.

just really depends what you want to do.

if your just gonna burn isos / data / or music cds its not a bad peice of software, overpriced for what you get but so is everything else.

I've used EZCD as long as i've had a burner (like 5 years) and have always had DirectCD installed too without problems - never made a coaster. Direct cd also never gave me problems.

Only trouble was the the 2K compatability wich i must agree with you - that took far too long for them to have a fix ready.

I like Easy CD creator's ease of use, but Nero just has the options that let me burn my discs the way I want, which is a big plus for me.

And an extensive version history isn't neccessarily a bad thing. It just means they've taken more time to fing the bugs that exist....
