I use Outlook (XP/2002 now, and yes I payed for it) and have since the '98 version. I started using it mainly because we use Exchange server here at work, but I've found it helps me manage things at home and I can actually say I probably use 90% of all the features (of course I do the same with most Office applications... one of the rare 2% who do). It's definately been a time saver and with the new mobile manager software Microsoft released not that long ago I can get reminders on my cell (I have DSL and leave Outlook running most of the time).

For what it's worth I've never had a security problem or any serious problems with Outlook... but then again I don't open every "Santa wants to spank you..." e-mail either ;)

I'm really not sure if Outlook should be called an "e-mail" program, as it's really something more. That seems to be a big perception issue with Outlook, alot of people just want to do e-mail and so when they use Outlook they think it's bloated and whatnot. Outlook first and foremost is a PIM (Personal Information Manager), and is second to none in that category (well for the most part). But for just plain e-mail there are alot of better solutions...

Speaking of which I think I am going to check that Bat e-mail program out, it looks pretty interesting and I might decide to use it on my ancient laptop that I carry around on trips :D

For over a week I went to every download site there is and tried every shareware/freeware email program. I also used Outlook.

I always keep coming back to Outlook Express. Now I use 6.0.

It's fast, compact and has lots of features.

The only other one I would even consider using now is Eudora.
