Bushrat
I don't know why neowin doesn't get a heap of small servers and cluster them? They wouldn't get any of these nasty databse errors and they will have a 100% uptime ( excluding network outages ).
kombolcha
it is really ****ing me off now.. it craps out like every 2 mins.
Chadwick
yeah neowin would deffinantly benefit from a cluster setup.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted September 2, 2004 Veteran Share Posted September 2, 2004 If the MySQL server is restarted, then the online user list is reset. Don't worry, it fills pretty quick :)

Bushrat
As far as i know, neowins servers are in theplanet DC? Instead of having one big sevrer, why not have a cluster of say 5 servers? Serving HTTP synchro files with rsync ). Then have another seperate cluster of 2 servers serving mysql with replicator mysql function combined with rsync? Bushrat
fark, that emotion dance thingy u did is pretty phat eh? Well, i have done this type cluster before. It is very stable and there is 0 downtime unless there is a network problem. Because if one server goes down, the main cluster then stops sending requests or traffic to the server that is down and sends it to the others, that way you have 100% hardware uptime and 99% network uptime. Tim Dorr Veteran Posted September 3, 2004 Veteran Share Posted September 3, 2004 We're working on load balancing the http servers, but things like uploads and cache files are a problem. Rsync isn't an option, unless it can be done instantly.
