PM5K
I just use Windows XP's built in ICS, that works for me, sharing files, the internet and lan gaming.
Krome
Windows 2000 Server comes complete with router... very powerful... but if you install ISA it will give you even more flexibility... Tim Dorr Veteran Posted April 4, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 4, 2002 i need to know this too. basically what I need is this: -DHCP -port forwarding -cheap -remote admin is a plus i know it sounds simple, but I'm lazy and figure I can get some good requests here :D
danielb
i got a winproxy 4.0 license i can sell u for cheap ($15) if you're interested...it does everything you could want including a built in firewall. the license i have is a 3-user license which means you can have more than 3 user hooked up but only 3 users simotaineously using the proxy. on their website the license costs $59.99! oh, and before i bought the license i tryed all the warez cracks and serialz out there but ositis calls home and if you have a warez key, it BSoD's your pc each time...and i haven't seen any working cracks. .... anyway, if you are interested just email me dbess@cox.net or dbess@hotmail.com
Dredlok
How about Freesco? Its a software router program that runs from a boot floppy. Its free, can do everything that you mentioned and more, and you don't need a harddrive or a powerful machine. A Pentium 100 with 32MB RAM would be just fine for this. Personally I use Windows XP's ICS but have a Freesco boot floppy ready just in case XP takes a dive. Check it out: http://www.freesco.org/
CustardFD
If you want something real simple, then the *duck* Sygate *ducks again* router is probably the easiest.

Check it out: http://www.freesco.org/ Yeah thats a good one, I personally needed better PPoE support so I use Coyote LRP, also gets the job done and will do all the things you required. I'm using a 486 SX 33 MHz cpu with 16 MB ram , two 3com 10 Mbit ISA nics, and a floppy. http://www.coyotelinux.com/
