About the whole continent thing. There are only 7 Africa, Antartica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.

Australasia or Oceania usually refer to the islands from Japan down to Australia. Japan, Fiji, Indonesia etc...

A continent usually referes to a large landmass, which makes me think about Europe and Asia, that is one landmass, should be called Eurasia.....

Most islanders will anyway refere to someone from these continents as continentals and we refere to them as islanders.

Edit: - By the way, who else is from Africa? I see there are 2 in the vote....

well as my little thing on the left says, i'm from a town called falkirk which is just been glasgow and edinburgh in central scotland.

I wish i could say something exciting about it other than the fact that falkirk is the home to the worlds only fully rotational boatlift.

(rivetting eh?)

Falkirk could be a town like any other across the uk, with the same shops, the same everyone init from themselves mindset, seing the same thing day after day and sometimes its like environmental anesthesia for the brain. Theres nothing left to see and thats what makes it so boring for me.

Strangley though the old addage of theirs no place like home rings true as when your away from the place you kinda miss it. bleh...i guess everyone misses their hometown after time away no matter how boring it is. :p

Yeah, technically, Austrailia is a continent - but by the same technicallity, Europe and Asia aren't. In a purely Geophical definition, they are called the Eurasian continent.

However in a poll asking where people live, I think using the Geopolitical landscape is fair enough, in which case, using Oceania, not a true continent but a geopolitical continent, is fair enough.

This got a whole lot more complicated than a simple poll should have. I feel like I'm on Slashdot here :s

aco, that's off an American website, what do you expect? You cant exactly call the continent Australia where there is a country called that. What if North America was called the United States... that would make no sense also.

It was just a joke dude, just a kids website. Answer me this though...

Antartica is a continent and also a country, so why can't Australia be one? :ponder:
