Microsoft XNA Release Date?

Question

I'm researching into XNA (which is based upon DirectX/Xbox & HLSL). Just wondering if anyone had a clue when XNA will be released to the general public for downloading and/or beta testing.

Also, I know this is a long shot but are there any small tutorial examples of the coding? I've got all the videos on MS's website about the XNA. So I've seen the final products (car crashes etc.) but no coding examples :(

I usually get invites to the DX betas... I don't know why... but there's been no peep from MS as to when this will go beta that I've heard. I sincerely doubt that what you've seen is anything more than a proof-of-concept. Which means that it is code that someone threw together for a demo.

I see, so basically we have a long wait - then again the graphics cards will need to be XNA optimised, so that could also take some time. As long as it's not coming anytime soon, I've got to get my head around (DirectX, HLSL, Pixel Shaders & Vertex Shaders)...so that will take some time.

If and when you or anyone else does find out please let us all know :)
