Windows Cairo and Neptune Screenshots soon?

Recommended Posts

No need to call me a fool.

I said Neptune was a NT 5.1 that never made it.

What I meant was that if it had made it, it would have been NT5.1. But Neptune was cancelled, and NT5.1 turned out to be Windows XP.

Longhorn should be NT5.2

Edit:

If I remember correctly, Nashville was nothing more than Internet Explorer 4.0.

...And Windows 95c, which was an OEM, like Win95b, was nothing different from 95b, except is has the IE4 integrated,

and was shortly released before Win98 First Edition.

So i guess Nashville was in fact Win95c. I only own Win95 original, Win95b, Win98, Win98 SE from the 9x Line, but personally on the NT Bandwagon since NT 3.5 in '94.

There was an alpha Win95 GUI for NT 3.51 a long time ago,

anybody still know here to get this GUI? It was about 2.3 MB

only, the Win95 GUI...but i've lost it. :(

Okay so ive just sifted through 4 pages of codename arguements for One screenshot. very cool........not.

Nah its alright ive got screenshots of Neptune, im surprised no ones made a VS for it yet, and I got money on it that once a few people see more pics they will, even though theres not much of a VS to build on here, you could do a few things.

I thought "Nashville" was Windows 95 OSR2 or maybe Windows 98 SE? (The former seems most true, so maybe they reused the name for Win98 SE.)

What about Internet Explorer codenames? I remember reading on the old ActiveIE Web site that IE 5 was codenamed "Chrome", but then I saw a book saying that "Chrome" was supposed to be some sort of VRML-based Web browser until MS bought it out...

What were the real codename for IE (since 1995)?

Well, Win95b was OSR 2.0, OEM Service Release 2.0, said,

and with FAT32 Support for the 1st Time, it was in Oct'96.

Then came shortly after this OSR 2.1, which updated USB

Support Drivers. File Date was xx.3.97, but the Files have

been the same like the Nov'96 OSR 2.0 aka Win95b Release,

i am too lazy now to look for the original CDs... :D

And Windows OSR 2.5 was that, in fact, Win95c, with IE4

integrated, and some months before Win98 Final hit the Stores..that's it. :)

This isnt the forum to litigate these issues. The topic is Neptune Cairo screenshots. Go debate Nashiville win95 3.1 or whatever in another forum.
