I hope this question is too laughable, if so please forgive me, I really am very new to this type of programming. I did some BASIC & Pascal programming years ago (ie Windows 3.11 was new) and have done a fair bit of Excel programming (which I know is quite different), so beyond that I'm NEWBIE all the way!
My problem is this: [besides the obvious, glad mugshot isn't mandatory (:)]
I have a Logitech Mouse (Mx700). It's Software/driver allows me to assign different functions & even keystrokes to ANY of it's buttons (Left, Middle, Right + 6 additional buttons).
I want to write a program in BASIC (I'm leaning on Rapid-Q Basic) that will let me see the (ASCII or DEC, HEX etc) value sent by any of the mouses buttons & print it to the screen. Is there a specific fuction that will do this (ie Input$, Get$) or do I have to write an applicable routine? If a routine is required, what's the basic outline/progression/format I need? That is to say, how the heck would I go about it? I'm don't expect someone to do the work for me, I just need to know the BASIC Functions/Directives to use & perhaps some tips.
Can someone please help with this or point me to where I might find out?
