Windows XP SP1 (hoax)

I just recieved in my mail today the beta copy of you guess it Windows XP SP1......it includes a new version of.......

-IE 6.1

-Media Player 8.1

-Some security updates

And some other tid bits I havent fully looked over

here is a screen shot, more are on the way

Nice but uh, is this just IE 6.1.. or did u upgrade to "Windows XP SP1 Beta" ?

You only show a screenshot of IE.. I'd like to see some more please!

And you should also rename the title of this thread.. it may be a bit misleading. :sleeping:

my dad owns his own business and has beena beta tester for alot of stuff from microsoft so we recieve the Windows XP SP1 Alpha build thats how i got it, and i cant send it out because of the id number you need and i dont really have a place to upload it

thats fake, the numbers after 'xpclient' should be different. Its a date isnt it?

doesnt that mean August 17, 2001?

wouldnt they change those numbers as well?

What is Media Player upto in Windows.NET at the moment? I mean that has SP1 built in (all the hotfix's blah in beta state).

So what build is Windows XP reporting? Is it 5.1.4280?? That would be cool to know. Are there any big differences between IE 6.0.2800 and 6.1.4280?

And I guess more importantly, what would one have to do to get a copy of that from you? :) Would you be a pal and share with us? :)

its not windows. net and the build number is 8.1.0.5588 for media player

i dunno maybe its a fluke on microsofts part, you never know or maybe in the final build they will change it you never know with microsoft lol

I'm inclined to question the authenticity of this screenshot, as it uses the old Windows logo (the flag) in the top-right corner of the screen and on the Start button. It would surprise me if Microsoft left this flag in even betas of SP1. This, however, is nothing conclusive and only a thought.

why would they change the flag????? wouldnt they keep to the same type of logos for the service packs????? or anything to do with XP????? did you ever notice i any other service packs of windows the logos being changed????
