Phinal Phantasm
I noticed this awhile ago, but I never thought to post it, but it looks like Uncle Bill doesn't want us calling ourselves just anything when using *his* software. I've not checked this on MSN Messenger for 2k and down or on any version under 4.6.0076, but as far as Windows Messenger's versions 4.6.0076 and 4.6.0077 on XP it does it. I assume it's the same for all. Anywho, here it goes: Start Windows Messenger and try changing your screen name to any of the following: Microsoft Help Messenger Office Hotmail MSN Hmmm... makes you wonder... lol Any other words that have the same effect that anyone can find? If this has been posted before, or is common knowlege, I apologize in advance... :) I just normally use Trillian, but tonight I decided to dust off Windows Messenger... ;)

As far as I can tell, it's only the ones on that list... it's sorta weird, I wanna know what they used to decide what words I couldn't call myself. haha
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted April 9, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 9, 2002 I suppose that makes sense though. Wouldn't you think it would be legit if MSN asked you for your password? (imagine you're a dumb user then. oh, NOW you get it ;) ) Just basuc security. See? MS isn't that bad about those things :D
